Calling all Music Lovers!  Durham has always been a Cool place to be and starting September 28, 2018 it will be even Cooler as it will host the 5th Anniversary Art of Cool Music Festival in downtown Durham.    Artists from the Hip Hop, R&B, Jazz and Soul genres will grace various stages over a 2 day period.  The party starts at noon on Friday and continues thru the wee hours on Sunday morning.  The venues include The Durham Bulls Athletic Park, The Carolina Theater, Pinhook, The Durham Armory, Beyu Caffe, and Motoco, all within walking distance to the center of the city and Morehead Manor.  The DOME group, LLC purchased this homegrown Black Music Festival in 2017 and moved the date to end of September which happens to come on the heels of the Black Wall Street: Homecoming.  See our BWS Blog post for more information on those events. 

The Festival’s kick-off is Friday, September 28, 2018 and performances include:

  • Maxwell, Anthony Hamilton and Damien Escobar – At the Durham Bulls Athletic Park
  • Meshell Ndegocello, and Rahsaan Patterson – At The Carolina Theater
  • Sons of Kinmet, Freelance and Young Bull – At the Pinhook
  • Terminator X, Sango, 95 Live with 9th Wonder and DJ Spinderella – At the Durham Armory
  • Priscilla Renea, and Black Alley – At the Beyu Caffe

Saturday, September 29, 2018 performances:

  • Erykah Badu, Nas and Royce Da 5’9” – At the Durham Bulls Athletic Park
  • Iman Omari, Keyon Harrold, Anna Wise and Zoocru – at Pinhook
  • Dwele – At Motoco
  • Madison McFarrin and Vanessa Ferguson – At Beyu Caffe
