My favorite comfort sandwich here is the #9 Shrimp BLT! It’s a delicious sandwich that I never get tired of recommending.
2. GRUB Durham

Fresh, colorful, and easygoing, GRUB Durham is a nice change of pace at lunchtime. The menu has enough variety to keep things interesting, especially when everyone’s craving something a little different.
I especially like it for the great salads and Blue Plate Specials. It’s a good spot to keep in mind when you want lunch to feel relaxed but still full of flavor.
3. Byrd’s BBQ

Craving barbecue for lunch? Byrd’s BBQ is a great one to keep on your list when you want something smoky, hearty, and full of Southern flavor. The brisket is smoked daily, and the lineup of Southern sides makes it easy to build exactly the kind of lunch you’re craving.
Note: Byrd’s is only open Monday through Friday. If you’re visiting over the weekend, The Original Q Shack and Hog Heaven are two other tasty options we recommend!
4. AAKTUN Coffee + Bar

Don’t let the name fool you, AAKTUN is much more than a coffee stop! Lunch here leans creative, with a mix of Latin American, Caribbean, and globally inspired flavors that set it apart from the usual midday spots.
The Tulum- and tiki-inspired space adds to the experience, and the menu features everything from tacos and burgers to ceviche and small plates. I recommend ordering the Tempura Fish Tacos and The OG Burger — they’re my two favorite dishes there!
